Egypt – Israel Pilgrimage Itinerary


Fullboard basis

Day 1, March 1: Kampala – Cairo
Depart Kampala for Cairo. Arrive with ET at 1:20am. Check-in for overnight.

Overnight in Cairo.

Day 2, March 2: Cairo
Visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.

Visit palace of Moses (where Moses was raised), Later visit an Oriental perfumery and go for lunch.

In the afternoon visit the hanging church (AL MUALLAQA) – was built in the 4th century over southern gate of the fortress of Babylon. Dedicated to Virgin Mary, its treasures include a 14 the century wall painting of the Nativity, Church of St. Sergius (ABU SERGA). A 5th century basilica built over crypt where the Holy Family is believed to have stayed during their flight into Egypt, Church of St.Mercurius (ABU SEFEIN) – boasts a unique collection of Coptic art including 175 icons that depict scenes from the old and new testaments, wall paintings, etching and stained glass.

Day 3, March 3: Cairo-Sinai
Depart from Cairo early morning to Mt. Sinai crossing the famous Suez Canal that separates Asia and Africa. Drive via the Springs of Moses where Moses hit the rock and twelve water springs appeared.

See the remnants of the springs and a group of Bedouins still lives there. Continue to the Wilderness of Sinai where the miracle of Manna and Quails took place and view the seventy-two palm trees.

Next stop is in Rephidim where the Israelites fought the Amalekites. During this battle, whenever Moses put his arms down, the Israelites lost and whenever he put his arms up, the Israelites were winning. (Aaron and Hur held Moses’ arms up as he started getting tired). Lunch en-route to Sinai. We proceed to St. Catherine at the foot of Mt Sinai where the Ten Commandments were revealed to Moses.

Day 4, March 4: Sinai Climb
Sunrise climb of Mount Sinai, after descending, shower and breakfast. Visit sites in St. Catherine which is the place where Moses climbed up the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments. In the same area, there is the famous Greek Orthodox Monastery which is built around the Burning Bush and the well where Moses met his wife Zebura (daughter of Jethro, the priest of Median). Next visit the place where the Israelites camped when Moses went to receive the Ten Commandments, proceed to Taba for lunch, Red Sea beach relax, after the mountain climb.

Day 5, March 5: Cross into Israel, Qumran, Dead Sea, Jericho – Galilee area
After breakfast, cross Taba border into Israel. Meet & assist at the border. Drive to the dead sea where you can experience floating in the waters of the dead sea which have amazing healing powers. Visit Qumran, where the dead sea scrolls were discovered. Continue to Jericho which is considered the oldest inhabited city in the world. View the Mt. of temptation & visit the tree of Zacchaeus.

Drive to Jerusalem on your way stop at Mount Scopus to bless the city of Jerusalem.

Dinner & Overnight in Jerusalem

Day 6, March 6: Mt Olives, Bethlehem
After Breakfast, begin the tour in Jerusalem with a majestic view from the Mount of Olives over all ancient and modern Jerusalem, the center of the biblical world. Visit the Chapel of the Ascension, the Pater Noster where Jesus taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer. You will see the Lord’s Prayer in different languages including Aramaic the language that Jesus spoke and Kiswahili too. Visit the Church of Dominus Flevit – where Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem. Walk down the “Palm Sunday Road” to the Garden of Gethsemane where he prayed the prayer of Agony and was betrayed by Judea. Visit the church of All Nations where Christ prayed on the Night of His betrayal.

Then drive to the city of Bethlehem. Visit the Church of Nativity where Jesus was born and the Shepherds Fields where the shepherds were tending their flocks when they heard a heavenly chorus and followed the Star to Bethlehem.

Dinner & Overnight in Jerusalem

Day 7, March 7: Mount Zion, Old city Jerusalem, Western Wall & Departure
After breakfast visit Mount Zion, visit the Upper room & King David Tomb. Proceed to visit St. Peter in Gallicantu church. Than walk within the Old City of Jerusalem. Enter through the Jaffa Gate into the Old City. Walk through the colorful bazaars. Visit to the Pool of Bethesda. walk along the Via Dolorosa also called “the way of the cross” – Jesus’ route from Pilate’s judgment hall to Golgotha. Visit the Western Wall.

Drive to the Galilee area

Day 8, March 8: Tabor, Nazareth, Cana
After Breakfast drive to Mount Tabor the site of the Transfiguration Church.

Drive to Nazareth and visit the Church of Annunciation which is one of the focal points in Nazareth. The church is built on the original Byzantine church and the crypt includes the cave of the Annunciation where the Angel Gabriel is said to have appeared to Mary. Afterwards stroll through the market area to visit the synagogue where Jesus is believed to have preached. Visit Cana, the site of the first Miracle where Jesus turned water into wine. Here you can celebrate the renewal of your marriage vows.

Dinner & Overnight in Galilee area

Day 9, March 9: Yardenit, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Tabgha
After breakfast visit Yardenit Baptismal site. Continuation to the Sea of Galilee for a Boat Ride – Time for Prayer & reflection. Visit the boat museum, where you see a 2000 years old boat. Visit the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. Visit Capernaum on the northwest shore where Jesus began his preaching career. The town is also well known during Second Temple, Roman and Byzantine periods. Visit Mensa Christi. Continue to Tabgha, the site of the Miracle of the Multiplication.

Dinner & Overnight in Galilee area

Day 10, March 10: Haifa, Muhraka, Caesarea, Jaffa & Departure
After breakfast drive to Haifa. See the famous Bahai Gardens. Next drive to Mt. Carmel to visit the Muhraka. Continue to Mt. Carmel where Elijah defeated the Priests of Baal, and enjoy a breathtaking view of the north of Israel. Visit the Muhraka. Drive along the coast to the Roman city of Caesarea with its amazing excavations. Drive to Jaffa. Enjoy a city tour.

Have a Farwell dinner before your flight back home.

Transfer to Ben Gurion International Airport for the return flight, flight is departing at 01:00am.
